Digital Care: Crafting Behavioral Health Companion Apps

A global pharmaceutical company aimed to develop health partner apps for patients with chronic conditions or those undergoing surgery.

LUR collaborated with psychologists, nutritionists, physical therapists, and app developers to conduct in-home observations, gaining insights into patients’ environments and needs.

For knee surgery, they created an app to support patients before, during, and after the procedure. The app offered guidance on home modifications, psychological support, and in-app communication with the care team.

One surprising finding was that patients expressed a desire to connect with others who had undergone the same procedure, finding comfort and reduced anxiety through shared experience.

Similar partner apps were developed for bariatric surgery, depression, and new mothers.
